Jimmy Fortune performed with the Statler Brothers for 21 years, joining in 1982 after being discovered by Lew DeWitt. He wrote several of their biggest hits, including “Elizabeth,” “My Only Love,” and “Too Much on My Heart.” He toured across North America, appeared on The Statler Brothers Show, and sang at the White House for Presidents Reagan and Bush. After the group retired in 2002, Jimmy launched a successful solo career, releasing acclaimed gospel and country albums with Gaither Music. He’s been inducted into multiple halls of fame and published his memoir, Story of an American Dreamer, in 2025. Today, he continues to write, record, and perform nationwide.
