 Part-time Event Custodian 

 Position Title: Part-time Event Custodian 

Reports to: Executive Director & Producing Director 

Job Description: The primary function of the event custodian is to carry out event cleaning and associated duties after performances, movies, rentals, and any other special events that take place in the evenings at the McPherson Opera House. The position requires the ability to work late evenings/early mornings and on weekends. Job responsibilities are provided but not limited to those included. 

Hours of Work: Majority of work must be completed during the hours of 10:00 pm – 7:00 am. Flexible on days when spaces are not in use the next day. There is an estimated 15 hours of work each week, however those hours may vary greatly depending on the time of year and the number of events. 

Job Responsibilities: To carry out cleaning and associated duties, including, but not limited to sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming. Specific responsibilities include: 

 Cleaning the auditorium after performances and movies, including popcorn removal. 

 Cleaning of dressing rooms after performances. 

 Cleaning rental spaces, including Grand Ballroom, CHS Room, Rose Morris Room and Arts Center. 

 Cleaning common spaces, including restrooms, auditorium lobbies, stairs, hallways, etc. 

 Emptying trashcans and recyclables to designated areas. 

 Hygienic cleaning of toilets and washrooms and polishing of metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings. 

 Set up and tear down for events (moving tables and chairs) throughout the building and clean up after each event. 

 Maintain equipment associated with this position. 

 Complies with proper safety policies and procedures when using cleaning chemicals, reporting incidents, etc. 

 Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities as requested.

 Ability to interact and communicate with professional courtesy, hospitality, and tact to all levels of the organization in addition to Opera House patrons, board members, and volunteers. 

 Must be a team player and willing to proactively help out other employees and volunteers. 

 Must be extremely organized with the ability to maintain this level of efficiency. 

 High level of integrity and trustworthiness on confidential matters. 

 Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information. 

 Strong interpersonal and professional skills being flexible, tactful, and diplomatic while working effectively with limited or no direct supervision. 

 Attention to detail and thoroughness of work at all times. 

 Conscientious about quality and timeliness. 

 Ability to adjust work schedule with minimum notice. 

 Be professional in appearance. 

Education and/or Experience: 

 High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 

 Commercial cleaning experience ideal. 

 Maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record. 

Physical Demands: 

 Required to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend forward, kneel down, crawl, reach and grasp, push and pull objects, lift and/or move a minimum of 45 lbs., perform repetitive arm movements, speak, and hear. 

Compensation: 

 $15.00 per hour
