Overview

*FREE EVENT*

For more than 40 years the Wichita Children’s Theatre & Dance Center has been providing arts opportunities to young people in Central Kansas of all ages and backgrounds, including presenting live theatre shows for children performed by WCTDC’s professional actors. Thanks to a grant from the Lisa Memorial Waldhauer Fund, managed by the McPherson County Community Foundation, admission is free to guests attending WCTDC’s annual performance at the Opera House. Elephant & Piggie is a live, musical stage performance based on the popular children’s books by Mo Willems. The books teach young children about social interactions, inference, personal character and friendship. Elephant (Gerald) and Piggie are best friends even though they are very different characters. Gerald is a worrier, cautious, and anxious. Piggie is joyful, imaginative, and kind. Social situations such as patience, inclusion, problem-solving, and being kind are topics covered through these characters a fun and exciting live show for children of all ages.
